The Studebaker Hawk
The Studebaker company out of South Bend Indiana was known for its sedate but sturdy styling. It's low slung, sleek and eye catching styling caught the eye of many, including the automotive press which loved it. The Hawk name was branded to these coupes by the mid fifties and it continued successfully into production with some changes through the 1964 model year. Today, Studebaker is best known for the Hawk and later, the much applauded Avanti. Supercharged versions of these cars are rising in value as the buying public sees the value and contribution they made to the car industry.

1964 Ford Ranchero
$24,900. Sold new in southern California and resided there until just two years ago! FACTORY V8 FOUR SPEED CAR!
Absolutely rust free, original sheet metal all around. No prior body work. Originally Cascade Green, it was recently repainted a 1966 Ford color called Tahoe Turquoise. Nicely done a 7.5 - 8 out of 10. Again, applied to a clean, original straight body. Nice time and chrome too.
Interior restored to close to original. Seat coverings, door panels and headliner. Factory floor mounted floor shifter, auxiliary gauges and a cool, retro dash mounted tach. The original radio and antenna are missing. A very clean presentation overall.
Lots and lots of upgrades. The original 260 V8 was rebuilt and built up to 292 ci. Front disc brakes were installed. Suspension reworked. A four barrel Holly carb and a new fuel tank. Undercarriage cleaned and detailed. No undercoat ever.
Runs fantastic. Perfect for a daily commute in nice weather. No leaks or issues. Very turn key. Hard to find in so many ways.

1987 Renault Alliance GTA Convertible
$4,500. MAKE AN OFFER!
The Alliance was a short lived hero. An unsung hero to AMC. In desperate financial troubles in the late 1970's and with a government more interested in helping out the more powerful Chrysler Corporation with their new leader, Lee Iacocca, AMC was left to fend for themselves. Along came Renault from France with a boat load of cash and the desire to sell their products in the US with the help of AMC's vast dealer network. The R9 platform was decided upon (Already being sold in Europe.) and it would be built at AMC's Kenosha plant in Wisconsin. A plant previously known for Hornets, Pacers and Concords. This was to be an all new car to appeal to an all new American taste.
Initially it did well. Garnishing several awards, even the esteemed Car Of The Year from Motor Trend. It didn't take long for the fall from grace as build quality and reliability issues began to plaque the model. A convertible and hatchback was added in 1985 but it was too little too late. Then, oddly, AMC introduced the GTA model like we have here. It was to be the final year of production for the Alliance and like with so many car, once they got it right (sort of), they killed it. They meaning Chrysler as it was that year that Chrysler bought AMC, mostly to just obtain the Jeep brand. They couldn't wait to ditch the other cars still in production such as this GTA
Just 1,029 GTA convertibles were produced, total and around 5500 coupes. You rarely see any these days as they became sort of synonymous with nothing good. The resale values tumbled and so did the cars themselves.
Here we have a trur survivor with just 85,273 miles. A five speed manual transmission (The only trans available on the GTA.), stiffer suspension, larger brakes with 15" alloy wheels and a larger, 2.0 liter engine putting out about 95 whopping horsepower. This car was one of the lucky ones. It was saved by a HUGE AMC / Renault fan and was heavily maintained with lots of new components. Suspension, brakes, tires, a convertible top (manual operating), clutch and a multitude of other things that escape my mind at the moment. It's a very cool, turn key car that you can have a blast with right away for not a lot of money. It's got it's cosmetic issues for sure. A ding and a dent here and there. Scratches, delaminating, ect, ect... but from about 25 feel away it looks like a million bucks and there is little to no rust on the car anywhere. Has optional cruise control, driving lights, A/C and a Jensen stereo. All of which does not work. Typical. Also the two front windows are manual, like very manual. You need to raise and lower the glass by hand. You'll be hard pressed to find any working regulators anywhere for one of these. Ask me how I know.
So there you have it. An Orphan Car Garage exclusive. If you are a big fan of these cars and always wanted to own one, reach out. I kept this car around for almost two years before advertising it. Something about it draws me in. Plus, who doesn't love an underdog?

1953 Buick Special Riviera Hardtop
$19,900. An amazing survivor with the same family owners until 2016! The grandmothers car, purchased new at Bergen Motors in NJ. She drove it for her daily errands but rarely in foul weather and always garaged. Stored away by the family in the early 1970's where it sat dry and protected until around 2011 when the family removed it and brought life into her again. Spending well over $10K (We have the receipts.) in mechanical and brake work, ect to make the car drivable again. Used sparingly ever since. An oil change sticker on the door from 1964 reads 39,634 miles. Another from 1971 reads 55,038 miles. The car currently has just 64,671 miles!
Still wearing most, if not all it's ORIGINAL PAINT. The color I believe was called Glacier Blue. The top is painted white and is also original, factory installed paint from 1953. All the chrome, trim and lenses also original. Of course with age comes patina. You'll see in the photos the original character patina the car sports today. I love and original paint car, even with flaws. I'd take that any day over a repaint. Honestly, we haven't done it but can complete a classic car paint correction which would bring even more of a shine back to the original lacquer. Externally, the car shows as an amazing survivor.
The interior was redone but properly with correct or close to correct materials supplied by SMS Auto Fabrics. I have lots of old documentation and photos of the car and the original upholstery is shown in one of the pictures. The drivers seat bottom was worn. Probably the reason for the refresh. It looks absolutely fantastic.
Under the hood is the last year, Buick straight eight. A tried and true engine with roots back to the 1930's. Shifting is provided via a column mounted three speed manual transmission. Yes, the clutch was replaced in 2011-2012. It shifts beautifully.
Such a beautiful body style. The 'Riviera' name refers to the unique hardtop, pillarless styling. It gives the car such a gorgeous presence. Brand new tires and rear shocks installed just last month! This car is ready to roll to the next show or cruise-in. Or maybe just to the ice cream parlor. What a slice of Americana.

1951 Studebaker Champion Convertible
$9.900. I was asked to assist in the sale of this cool and rare relic from 1951. I recently sold one of these and was in better shape but not as original as this appears to be.
Last driven approximately during 2018 or 2019. Was driven very regularly in good weather until then when the owner passed. The car sat inside a dry garage, untouched until 2023 when the garage was to be repurposed and the car was then rolled outside to where it still sits today.
THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE SAVED! I inspected the car today for the current owner and was amazed at some of the conditions and originality of this car. The red leather interior appears to be original to the car and other than a split on the drivers seat back seem, is in terrific condition! It got even better when I looked closely at the convertible top and other than some pollen and mold, it appears BRAND NEW. It's black and it's cloth, not vinyl. Original trunk mat is in place and is in alright condition. I suspected the car to have very low mileage but the odometer reads 04389 so we'll assume it's 104,389. The car does appear to have been repainted it's original color at some point of it's life.
Under the hood we assume hides the flathead six since this car is a Champion (The Commander had the new for 51 V8 only, I believe.). One important option that it's equipped with is an automatic transmission. I could not open the hood as the hood release cable is frozen and I didn't want it to snap.
The chrome on this car is in AMAZING condition. It all literally looks like it just came out of the box! Bezels, bullet nose, hood ornament, bumpers and guards. LIKE NEW. I was amazed.
The body overall isn't bad at all! Check out the photos. Everything you'll see that I could see is just surface. The undercarriage is clean, not undercoated and not rotted at all.
So yes, the paint is in dire need of attention just from two years of New England elements but I believe even a lot of the rust stains could clean up with some CLR. New tires are in order for sure as will be a fuel system rework of some sort but I bet in a weekends time, this car could be driving again. A fantastic opportunity for someone with some knowledge and patience to come out quite well in the end. This car could be quite the cool 'survivor' on the cruise circuit for not a huge investment. Or take it to the top and strip the body and repaint. Maybe a new carpet and a good cleaning. You're good to go. A real fun and not so difficult project here.
The car is being sold with a 2019 Rhode Island registration and a bill of sale. RI does not title older cars so it's perfectly legal. Check out the gallery of photos in the link below and reach out with any specific questions.

1956 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Sedan
SALE PENDING.
What a sweetheart this one is! A very original example of a Virgil Exner design from 1956. Finished in Briar Rose and white. Took me a while to find signs of a repaint but it does appear there was a very old respray of the original colors. So old it looks original! The interior is super cool too and that's original. Check out the photos! It's sooooooo 1950's.
Under the hood is a rebuilt poly 277 V8 and that's mated to a first year, 'Power-Flite' push button automatic transmission. That's been rebuilt also.
We've completed a three step pain correction on the old repaint and it looks incredible with just enough patina to look like original paint. We installed BRAND NEW Coker Classic wide white wall tires also. That is a must on these cars!
An extremely solid car with what seems to be the only area with body repair is in the left (and possibly the right.) rear doglegs. That's it from what we can find. Nice clean undercarriage and original trunk compartment.
Yes, just 55,914 miles showing on the odometer and it shows every bit original. In the glove box resides the original 'Service Policy' from Chrysler showing the original owner and dealership, both from Floral Park, NY. That's on Long Island. Somehow, somewhat this car escaped the rigors of NY roads. A testament to it's loving care and low miles.
This is just a fantastic driver. You will be the envy of the whole neighborhood and once again, they'll assume you paid much more. A nicely sorted, turn key classic.

1964 Chevy Corvair Spyder Convertible
$10,900. Here we have one of the most sought after Corvairs. 1964 was the third year of Spyder production and the first year for it to be designated as it's own model and not just an option package for the Monza. Also, 64 saw suspension improvements with the addition of the transverse leaf spring. 1964 has been said to be the best year for the early model Corvairs. Also, the last year it would use the 'Spyder' designation.
This particular car is very in keeping with it's original build. Born a Spyder (Not a clone like so many.), this car has the 06 in the VIN to prove it's provenance as well as the data plate coding to back it up as well. Also, this car was originally Ember Red in color which it still is today, although you are looking at an older repaint. According to the engine block code, the engine is from a 1962 turbocharged car. Code YR. a 64 would be YM. So you can see we did our homework on this one.
The body is extremely straight with very little signs of any previous work done. Trunk compartment is perfect with no previous welding or patching. Undercarriage was sanded and painted. No problems there either. I doubt very much this car was ever subjected to harsh weather.
A LOT of time and money has been spent on this car just in the past year. The list is long and we have receipts to back it all up. Just a sample of what's been done...
- New white soft top.
- New repro seat covers
- New seat foam
- New door panels
- New int 1/4 panels
- New carpet
- New sill plates
- Rebuilt carburator
- Fuel pump
- Distributor
- Full tune-up
- All brake lines
- Brake cylinders
- Chrome fuel lines
- Battery
- Tires
- Push rod tubes & seals
Most everything purchased as exact reproduction replacements from Clark's Corvair Parts. No expense spared.
All being said, the car still could use and deserves to be brought to the finish line. The original padded dash pad is cracked and needs replacement (Repros available from Clark's.). The fuel, temp and manifold pressure gauges do not work and have not been investigated. The original AM radio does not power up. Although the carb is a fresh rebuild, the idle can be a little wonky and could use adjustment. The paint as I mentioned is older and could be mostly brought back with a good cut and correction but is very serviceable as is. The car starts up and runs well. Goes into gear with a decent clutch. Brakes and steers well and the turbo works. It doesn't even leak any oil Just expect the car to need some fine tuning as you start driving it. These cars are very quirky and can be testy at times, especially the turbo models such as this. You should be mechanically inclined, want to learn or have a close friend that is familiar with these cars. Your average mechanic wont' touch it. Ask me how I know.
These are fantastic cars with an amazing and friendly group of followers with clubs and chapters all over the country. Parts availability is terrific and they actually are pretty basic to work on. Just know what you are getting into. The same could be said of the vintage air cooled VW's.
Check out the gallery of photos below in the link and feel free to ask any questions. I also have a full YouTube walk around video you can view as well by searching Orphan Car Garage on YouTube. If you need help finding it, let me know.

2012 Mazda Miata Hardtop Convertible
$12,900. See photo gallery in the link below. Details soon...

2011 Chrysler 200 Convertible
$5,500. It's an absolute BARGAIN! I bought this car at auction on a whim. I put a lot of money and effort into this one to make it right, or at least close to right. Lots of new parts including brakes all around and fluid changes. Deep reconditioning and it came out amazing! I've driven this car quite a bit myself and am impressed. It's a quiet and smooth car to drive. Obviously well cared for and has an ACCIDENT FREE CARFAX report too.
It's a Touring model so it's nicely equipped. A/C, stereo, power windows and locks, cruise control, ect... The car has power seats as well but neither work and I have not diagnosed them completely. I have a lot of money invested in this car already so I decided not to tackle that. The seats are both in a good position as is and if need be, I can get them moved up or back for a particular driver. That's really all that's wrong with this one and I've priced it accordingly.
A fun and affordable summer cruiser your neighbors will assume you paid far more for! Triple black too! I've never seen another one like it. These are great cars. Affordable to own and maintain. This one has the reliable 2.4 four cylinder engine for fuel economy and surprisingly, it's quite potent!
Check out the gallery of photos in the link below. Come drive it home!

1976 Cadillac Sedan DeVille
$5,500. Here we have a fantastic entry level Caddy with TONS of easy potential.
Nice Calumet Cream paint with just minor imperfections. An older repaint but a high quality one. With a little more elbow grease and a buffing wheel, this car would totally pop. Original trim, chrome and fillers all in great shape overall. Unfortunately the collector we are consigning this car for lost his storage a couple of years ago and this car was left outside, under cover and not run during that time. We were tasked to revive the car and ready it for sale. I'm utterly amazed at how well this car bounced back after languishing for so long.
The interior in particular is in absolutely OUTSTANDING original condition. IMMACULATE and it still smells new! One crack in the otherwise perfect steering wheel is about it. I wouldn't hesitate to eat off the carpet. Check out the pictures. I can't say enough.
Under the hood is the big, 500 cubic inch V8. It came to life super easily, even with it's battery from 2020. I'd do some fluid changes and probably an easy Quadra Jet carburator rebuild (She stumbles some under load.). The car starts and idles incredibly well with no strange noises or smoke. Nothing of concern there.
The undercarriage is clean and very presentable. Not detailed but easily could be. Again, nothing to concern yourself with there.
The downsides are few but there are some. From it's outdoor storage it seems some moisture got under the top side of the vinyl top and has discolored the vinyl. It very much deserves to be replaced and the roof treated. There is no rot through, it appears completely superficial. Also, the A/C compressor has been removed (Owner says it seized several years ago.) and was not replaced. It's a simple and common A6 compressor, readily available everywhere. Also. the factory AM/FM 8 Track stereo is inoperable. All the power windows work flawlessly as does the power door locks, although the right rear one likes to be lazy once and a while. There is a 60/40 split front seat and the drivers side is powered. Only the rear tilt function does not work there. Lastly, I assume the tires are pretty old so I'd replace those too just because.
So we are selling this car as is. We did what we did to help the seller who is in poor health. He decided not to invest anymore into it and sell at a reasonable price instead. This car not so long ago was a shop stopper and trophy winner. It deserves to be that again!
Check out the link below for the gallery of pictures and find us on YouTube for a full walk around video. Need transport? I can handle that too. I do not recommend driving this car much distance without doing some simple maintenance.

1992 Dax Rush
SALE PENDING.
If you know, you know. I didn't know until I did some research and it turns out these are about the coolest thing to come out of the UK since the Beatles.
The Dax Rush is a hand built British sports car. The closest thing you can get to a formula race car built for road and track. This particular car was built by a Dax aficionado over a period of time, using the best materials available and painstakingly crafted with the utmost detail to performance and appearance. It's a super lightweight performance car capable of speeds of 0-60 in under 3 seconds!
This Dax is considered a "Lotus on steroids" having the appearance of a Lotus 7 but manufactured with the ability of installing a V8 engine.
Driving this car is as exciting as you can ever be on four wheels. This will make your heart race just by pushing the start button. Make no mistake, this is a serious performance car and not recommended for a novice driver.
THE BUILD -
CHASSIS - Triangular space frame with added stiffness.
ENGINE - 350 Chevy ZZ4 crate engine. About 385 HP.
TRANS - Four speed Muncie close ratio with limited slip differential.
BODY - Aluminum and fiberglass.
BRAKES - Front are 10.2" disc. Rear is 9.9" Disc.
WHEELS - Front are 7.5X15 and rears are 10X15.
TIRES - Yokohama AVS

COMES WITH -
All receipts, build directions, build photo album, side curtains.
Judging by the dates on the receipts, the build took place between 2000 and 2004. VERY little use since. The car runs and drives like when it was completed. You couldn't come close to building this car for the asking and we've priced it below recent sales of close to or lesser builds. There is little comparison. If you are looking for the best, look no further.
Check out the gallery of photos in the link below and ask for the two running, walk around videos that I took. I'd be happy to forward them to any serious potential buyer.
DISCLAIMER - This vehicle is being sold with a valid, VT transferrable registration with matching serial numbers. We do not have a title for this vehicle. VT does not title cars like this. The reg is it's title and transfer document. Check with your local DMV about registering and titling it in your state. Some are MUCH easier than others and we make no promises. Just do your research.

1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
$34,900. Numbers matching, beautifully restored to original factory stock, 78 T/A with all the right stuff...
Finished in it's original shade of Solar Gold with a beautiful reproduction interior from Ames Performance, it's just like stepping back in time. Well documented through the PHS with the original reprint of the window sticker and build sheet. Factory options include...
- AIR CONDITIONING
- REAR WINDOW DEFOG
- CRUISE CONTROL
- LAMP GROUP
- POWER WINDOWS
- HD RADIATOR
- CAST ALUMINUM RIMS
- CUSTOM TRIM GROUP
The original 400 motor was removed and professionally rebuilt by a very reputable local rebuilder in 2016. Only pleasure driven since with very limited use.
This is a clean, North Carolina car so there was little to no body work to perform. The body and undercarriage were completely sand blasted then painted with the correct, Solar Gold paint. Then correct, reproduction decals to finish it off.
This is a VERY NICE example of a hard to find car in this condition and price. Very turn key. A/C blows cold. The power windows go up and down smoothly. The original AM/FM radio is included in the sale and the custom auto sound radio currently in dash did not require any modification.
These cars are appreciating in value as younger collectors enter the market. Sure to be a great investment, not to mention a blast to own and show off.

1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Two Door
SALE PENDING.
Fresh trade. Turn key, daily driven classic that's ready to go.
Bigger than a Falcon yet smaller than a Galaxie, the Fairlane could be just the right size! The odometer shows 49,260 miles and I have a ton of reasons to believe it's accurate.
Under the hood resides what is believed to be a 170 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine mated to a three speed manual transmission with a column mounted shifter. A '3 on the tree' as the old timers say. A very reliable, turn key car with all it's maintenance up to date.
Inside we have a mostly all original interior. The dashboard, including the chrome trim is almost like new. Clean and clear gauges and lights. The carpet is original too. Some soiling from age as to be expected. Seat upholstery is decent with some tears but nothing obscene. It's also I believe original. Had the odometer rolled over 100K, the interior would not look this neat and be this original. Check out how clean the pedals are.
Exterior is Heritage Burgundy with a white painted roof. Both look to have been resprayed decades ago. It's got some patina. I thought it was original until I did more investigating. The bumpers, chrome and trim are real nice and I assume original. Mustang Magnum 500 wheels set it off nicely too. An under dash stereo was installed to avoid cutting and works well. Check out the bridge pass sticker from 1965. The Mystic River Bridge is just outside Boston and is now called The Towbin Bridge. That sticker looks like it was installed last year. Again, boding well for the 49K miles..
As seen in the pics there are some bubbles in the paint on a few of the panels. No rot through. Very presentable. The undercarriage is SUPER CLEAN. Looks to have been undercoated when new. I did find one small hold on the passenger side front floor about the size of a quarter. As seen in the picture gallery.
So here we have a great entry level classic at a very entry level price. A good daily driver in nice weather. Cruise night car with the family ect. This is not a pristine show car. A fun, nothing to be ashamed of classic Ford.
Check out the gallery of pics in the link below. Let me know if you need transport. An in person inspection is always encouraged as well. I do have a walk around video I can share as well.
